Track bikes

Track bikes are a little different from most typical bikes that people buy. Some of the differences include:

• Where to ride – Many bikes are manufactured to be able to ride on the road, while others are built especially for riding on the mountain. Track bikes, on the other hand, are designed to be ridden on velodromes, which are bicycle tracks. They can be ridden on the roads, but they are built to ride best on tracks.

• No brakes – One of the big differences between track bikes and other kinds of bikes is the fact that track bikes do not include brakes. Because everybody is moving the same direction and because a person stopping quickly could cause a pileup behind that rider, most competitions for track bikes do not even allow participants to use bikes with brakes.

• Frame geometry – The way the frame on track bikes is manufactured is very different from the way they are manufactured on road bikes. Most frames for track bikes are pretty stiff and do not move much thanks to the fact that tracks are typically very smooth and do not require the extra attention of drivers. On the other hand, those who drive road bikes must be able to have a little flexibility on his or her bikes to make sure that he or she is able to easily travel over potholes and other uneven surfaces.
These are some of the main ways that track bikes differ from most of the bikes people ride.
