Pocket bikes
Pocket bikes are a smaller option to motor bikes that
are often viewed as a safer option as well. A person who wants to buy
pocket bikes for his or her children should:
• Find out about age requirements – Many states have minimum
age requirements for children who want to ride pocket bikes. If a license
is needed, then the process of buying a pocket bike might need to wait
until after a license or minimum age has been obtained.
• Consider the purpose – Some people ride pocket bikes simply
to be able to have some fun, while others choose to ride these bikes
in competitions. A person who plants to race on these bikes needs to
look for bikes that have a little more power and are able to reach higher
speeds.
• Consider durability – A person who plans to ride pocket
bikes should always make sure the bikes they buy are durable enough
to hold up at high speeds. Some people choose to buy bikes made from
expensive alloy metals. While this can be expensive, these metals are
known to be very durable.
• Check the engine – Most engines in pocket bikes are 37
cubic centimeters. The size of the engines in smaller bikes like this
can range all the way up to 109 cc, however this engine is a little
more on the extreme side.
• Get equipped – People who ride pocket bikes must also
make sure they have all the proper safety equipment. Helmets, knee pads
and elbow pads are all standard pieces of equipment to use with pocket
bikes.
