Kids bikes
All children love to ride kids bikes, but as all adults
know, there is always the potential for danger. In order to help a child
be safer when riding bikes, a parent can be proactive and teach his
or her children a few things before he or she hops on the bike. Some
of these things include:
• Wear a helmet – Children should be instructed
to strap on a helmet each time before he or she gets on a bike. These
helmets should be checked to make sure they fit before a child gets
on a kids bike.
• Choose the proper size bike – Even though
children of the same age might be riding kids bikes that are bigger
or smaller than the bike a parent’s child rides, it is important
that each individual parent looks loosely to make sure the bike his
or her child rides is the one best suited for him or her. A bike that
is too big – even just a little – could result in a child
not being able to properly use the brakes. This ultimately would result
in injury.
• Keep eyes open – Children who are under
eight years old should constantly be supervised when riding bikes. As
the child gets older, he or she can gradually start to ride by himself
or herself, but while children are young, supervision is a must.
By ensuring that proper precautions are taken, a parent can keep children
on kids bikes safer and happier.
