Girls bikes

When buying a girls bike, it is important to remember that a bike should not be chosen on appearance alone. Although it is true that most girls would like to have a cute bike, they can have a cute bike and still have a safe and effective bike as well.
Some of the other things to consider include:

• Size – The size of the frame as well as the size of the tires need to properly match up so that the girls riding the bikes will be able to ride a bike that is balanced. Girls should not be given bikes that are too large, because this could cause pedaling, braking and steering problems.

• Gears – A girls’ bike does not typically need to have a lot of gears. Although adults seem to think that a good bike needs to have a lot of gears, children do not typically think the same way. In fact, most children do not have gears on their bikes and do not even miss them.

• Shifters – If a girls’ bike does have different gear settings on it, it is important to make sure that the shifters are well built. Gear shifters are often recommended for a couple of reasons. One reason is because these shifters do not require a lot of dexterity to be able to shift from one gear to the next. Likewise, these gears are harder to break if an accident occurs on the bike. Accidents are much more prone to occur when a child is riding a girls’ bike than they are for adults riding bikes.
